Residential solar energy system
Residential
solar energy systems are the wave of the future, along with other
alternative resources of energy. The world is fast being depleted
of its common uses of energy, so finding alternative resources of
energy will soon become a necessity for much of the world. Residential
solar energy systems are one way in which the public can help the
environment without causing too much stress or change on the person.
There are a few different types of residential solar energy systems
currently being used. The type of system used really depends on
how much energy is needed in the home. The first type of system
is called the Grid-Tied solar system. This basically means that
the owner is using part solar and part electrical energy.
When the solar energy is used up, the electrical energy will kick
in. And if all the solar energy is not used up during the day, the
surplus will export to the grid, a process called net metering.
This is probably the most economical and best system to use for
regular electrical needs in a home.
Another system is the Stand-alone grid-tied solar system. This
system is very similar to the one above, except that it has battery
storage. That way, should the electrical power grid fail, then the
battery will kick in. This is an excellent system for those who
need an uninterrupted flow of power.
The other two major types of residential solar energy systems are
the Stand-alone off-grid solar system without energy and the stand-alone
off-grid solar system with energy storage. The off-grid solar system
is basically only used for things like pumping water or in a greenhouse.
The energy is used as it is created, so you can only use this system
when there is strong sunlight.
The solar system with energy storage usually has batteries or a
backup like a diesel powered generator. This usually only has enough
energy to run a television, lights, or a radio. As said before,
if you need enough energy to run an entire home, then the Grid-tied
solar system is probably the most effective and efficient system
for a residential solar energy system.
